Two Cards for the Treasure Cove Door

Before your coat comes off at Treasure Cove Casino & Bingo, the door wants to see two cards. Here is what the casino and the province ask, from the age line to the cameras.

Nineteen and up

In British Columbia the minimum age for any gambling is 19, in a casino or online. Nobody younger may be in a gambling venue, so teenagers in the family cannot come along to the bingo hall. Treasure Cove admits guests 19 and older. The same line holds next door: you must be 19 to check in at Prestige Treasure Cove Resort.

At the door

Photo ID and a second card

At the entrance, Treasure Cove asks for acceptable government-issued photo ID together with a secondary piece of ID. Bring both, even if you are only walking over from the hotel. Staff may ask to see your ID again during the visit. Keep the two cards in a pocket rather than back in the room or the car.

Since June 26, 2023, walking into any casino in British Columbia means showing government-issued photo ID. Security runs a scan of it and looks for a match among people banned from entering, for example anyone in Game Break. When you are admitted, your personal details are not kept by the system.

House rules inside

The house rules are short and plain. No outside alcohol, drugs or weapons come through the door. Clothing and accessories with gang-related graphics are not allowed, so a hat or jacket with that kind of print stays home. Photography, filming and live streaming need permission first. That covers a phone held up for a quick picture of the floor, too.

Game Break and GameSense

Game Break is BCLC's self-exclusion program. Someone signing up chooses a term of 6 months or one of 1, 2 or 3 years, and that choice cannot be changed later. One agreement bars entry to BC gaming facilities and play on PlayNow.com. Anyone enrolled may not enter Treasure Cove.

Enrolment means meeting a gaming worker, government photo ID in hand, at a casino or a community gaming centre, or BCLC staff by video. The casino also has a GameSense Info Centre, where BCLC's program explains how games work and how to keep play in check.

The Encore Rewards card

Encore Rewards is the players card at Treasure Cove. You get one at the Guest Services desk, to the left of the entrance, where the lottery centre also sits. Points are redeemed at a slot machine using the card and a 4-digit PIN. Pick a PIN you will remember. Points not claimed within a year expire.

Questions

Quick answers by the fire

Will a driver's licence on its own get me in?

Bring a second card as well. The door asks for acceptable government-issued photo ID together with a secondary piece of ID, and staff may ask to see it again inside.

Does the ID scanner hold on to my details?

Not if you are let in. Security scans your photo ID and looks it up on the list of those banned from entering. The system does not store personal information for people who are admitted.

Can I carry a bottle over from my hotel room?

Outside alcohol is not allowed in the casino. The Cove Café has a bar inside, so leave your own bottle back in the room.

May I snap a picture of the bingo hall?

Only if staff give permission first. Taking photos, filming and live streaming all need that permission, so check with staff before your phone comes out.
